DEMOndays XIII

Definitely time for one of my favourite ever demos, the second Antichrist offering, "Put To Death". Like I said on a recent show, I wasn't so into the first demo when I got it along with the Bastard Priest one from Blood Harvest back in 2009, but this one blew me away first listen and still fuckin' does, ughhh. Why I bought the second demo of a band whose first one I wasn't so keen on still remains a mystery, but I am glad I did and also glad my favourite Antichrist track ever—the title track on this—didn't make it to the LP. At first I was shocked and somewhat annoyed at its omission, now I get it—they could never record it better than this!
Anyways, two tracks here for those lucky ones who have the album but never heard this demo. Full scans in the zipped folder. LETHAL VOLUME ONLY!!!

Maniac Monday XLVI - State of the Art Speed Metal II—Soldiers of Metal

 ALRIGHT. Another all-out speed metal show, which has been coming for some time. Had some new stuff to play and also some cool heavy metal things, but it seemed cool to save them for some of next year's shows...
Also, as mentioned in the show, albeit a bit brief, I am offering the chance for you, the listeners, to contribute some tracks for the next show, due to air on December . So send 3-5 track mixes/lists to afistinthefaceofgodATgmailDOTcom by Wednesday next week please and I will pick out the best ones to play on the show, if there are enough, of course. Yes, I know it stipulates NO REQUESTS in the show's bio on NTS, but this is an EXCEPTION to that rule and that rule only!
So anyway, get cracking, you have a week. Hell, Fenriz has already sent his—four tracks, ha—so there is about 105 minutes left to fill...

Maniac Monday XLV - Thrash 'til Death II—Tyrants of Hell

Another Maniac Monday sees another thrash attack in the form of a second Thrash 'til Death show. Again, I was just trying to play some bands I hadn't before, so don't take this as some kind of thrash compendium—half of the last 45 shows have been just that, haha.

So again, thanks to those who listen in on a regular basis and thirst for the new discoveries each show may bring—you are who the show is for. As I mentioned in the show, I found I had a big pool of thrash and speed metal tracks for this one, so I kinda split the more heavy metal-vocaled ones for the next show (or maybe the one after to break it up a little), so hold tight for that one.

There are only three Maniac Mondays left of 2013—one of which will be the aforementioned speed metal show, another will be the 2013 show as I have so much killer shit to play from this year's releases—so tune in on December 2nd for the next onslaught, 9-11GMT, 4-7EST etc.

Maniac Monday XXIX - Metal Militia

Sorry for the delay in posting this, I know it is almost time for the next show. Anyways, here it is—Maniac Monday XXIX - Metal Militia—one for all the speed and thrash maniacs out there.

The last half-hour pays homage to two of my favourite albums from those genres, two albums which are now 30 years old—Show No Mercy and Kill 'em All. Show comes in around the 1:10 mark, btw.

This coming Monday is another maniac one, so hold tight for more real metal and thanks to all that listen in live, as always.

Maniac Monday XXI - Thrash 'til Death—Germany Vs USA [85-88]

 

That's right, the battle of the thrash nations begins here with USA Vs Germany. Apologies in advance for the 'low-talking' on this caused by a new 'mic'—don't ask! 

Be back in a fortnite with, hmm, I'm not yet sure, perhaps the 2012 show, but I am still awaiting a release or two—well, only Black Magic really—and then it's good to go. 'til then...

Maniac Monday XVIII - State of the Art Speed Metal

That's right, in the wise words of Dave Mustaine himself—state of the art speed metal! I gotta say, it was one of my favourite shows to date, as I have said before and I will say again—thrash rules everything around me. I have been belying my thrasher roots with my themes over the past few months so was great to play some 80s-only speed and thrash metal. I will do a heavier thrash show real soon, so thrashers be on alert! However, next week's show will be a South American massacre so do tune in to that next Monday, October 22nd, so I guess some time in November. There is still another punk show to come, perhaps with some crossover lumped in, maybe another year-only show—1985 anyone?—and, well, a 2012 show nearer the year's end, of course. So many good new tracks to play, fuckkk.

I would just like to point out that the first remastered track I played out of choice was in fact Dave's Megadeth as the original of the album sounds like it was recorded in an old washing machine, so props for once to remastering. Definitely didn't play the remastered Savage Grace at the start—WHY did they overlay triggered drums onto that beast of a speed metal record??? Be like CGIing a smile onto the Mona Lisa or something, I don't know. 

Soon like-minded heathens, metal troglodytes, and the rest!

Maniac Monday XIV - Black Thrashing Madness

Alright, here's last week's show, number 14—Black Thrashing Madness. And, as the title suggests, it is the darker side of thrash, with the formula of 80s first hour and 00s second in effect, with a special 30 mins of Norwegian black thrash at the end.

Maniac Monday XII - 1986(66)

Alright! A lot of out there have been asking for last week's show, 1986(66), so here it is. I am still awaiting NTS to upload it to Soundcloud, so for now all I can offer is a free download of it.
Next week's show is as yet undecided. I am thinking maybe epic tracks—which will allow me to play about 14 tracks hehe—or maybe another year? I dunno, if anyone has any suggestions, now's the time!
